Genesis 45: 8
So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.
I loved this part of the story. Can you imagine? And to be okay with that too?! Its hard to realize that sometimes God allows bad things in our lives for greater good. Its also difficult to thank God for the bad stuff in our lives even when we can clearly see the good. And to forgive those that may have been the cause of those bad things. Hmmm.. Joseph is such a great example to us... Just like Brenna talked about earlier.
Thats all, I was just really struck by that statement. :)
August 4th Bible in a Year Readings

This was a big topic at Coffee Break. Gwen, the leader, was sharing the trials of her life; the illness of her daughter, and the death of her baby granddaughter. She said that watching her daughter bury her granddaughter was unbearable, and sometimes we don't always see the greater good, but we can either go through the grief with God or without him. And the Psalms show us that grieving and complaining to God is how we get through the really rough ones. And down the road we may be blessed to see the good.
ReplyDeleteDealing with grief has been on my mind a lot after reading "The Shack", and it has been really awesome having God show this me in his word through both studies. Sorry If I going on and on.
No, I know! I love that the Bible, specifically in the Psalms we are studying, it gives us permission to just COMPLAIN! Sometimes life ISN'T fair, and its hard, but its okay to voice that to God. In fact, He desires us to! In order to build his relationship with us. I liked that because in my family we were taught NOT to complain, and that "life isn't fair" in a "get over it" way. I think that is a great lesson, because this way you don't get the entitlement complex, BUT, it IS okay to just voice that to God. "WOE IS ME!" :)
