Penn

Sorry about these video post, and esp sorry Traci cuz i know you can't always view this stuff in Africa.. but anyway.. I just found them really moving. This next one is a video by Penn, of Penn and Teller. I know very little about him, but have heard some of his rants, and I've always liked what he has to say. So anyway, take a listen, tell me what you think... :)

  1. Sad story. I like what he said about how if you truly believe, you should share the gospel. So that's an encouragement, but a bummer at the same time how he still rejects it. The parable of the sower comes to mind. But this guy doesn't really fit into any of those categories very well. At first I thought he is like the seed that fell on the path-- the one who hears the message but doesn't understand, and the Devil comes and snatches the seed. But then I thought of the verses a ways back in Matt 11:20-27 where Jesus was denouncing the towns that heard him and saw him work miracles, but still rejected him. He gets pretty angry towards them in verse 24 telling them that Sodom will be better off on judgment day than these people who rejected Christ.
I think Penn thinks of himself as a pretty smart guy, and he has heard what the many religions have to say. And he has come to the educated decision that it is not scientifically possible that we were created by God. He wouldn't want to think of himself as a little kid who blindly accepts Jesus. But Jesus says in Verse 25 "Oh Father, Creator of heaven and earth, Thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike." pretty harsh huh? I don't know what to think about that other than I am thankful that my faith started as a 3rd grader. My friends who aren't Christians have asked me “How can you choose Jesus if you haven’t learned about Taoism, Buddhism, or read the Koran?” By the end of these discussions I didn’t know what else to say but, “I just believe in Jesus and I know he has always been there for me.” So Jesus makes me feel better about my childish faith.
